The Work at Height Regulations 2005 requires anyone that works at height are to be deemed competent – if someone is not competent, they should not work at height unless supervised by a competent person.

How is someone deemed competent? – training, knowledge and experience.

Our scissor lift course will correctly train and test you or your staff in the safe use, selection, pre use check, storage, disposal procedures and correct wearing on the harness, pre use check of the machine and operating it correctly and safey. Without successfully completing adequate training you risk being non compliant with the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

RTITB accredited course 
Harness training is a great way to also ensure your staff are aware of their responsibilities.

RIDDOR statistics released before the Work at Height Regulations 2005 showed that 60% of falls recorded were “low falls” from below head height.

  • Refuelling or recharging of batteries and changing of Lpg bottles
  • Pre use inspection and introduction to forklift truck
  • Controls and instruments steering and brakes
  • Safe use of hydraulic controls
  • Starting moving off stopping
  • Basic steering
  • Advance steering
  • Load weight assessment
  • Handling unladen pallets and laden pallets
  • Working within a racking system
  • Bulk stacking
  • Loading and unloading vehicles
Training Course Summary

By the end of course the operator should be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of responsibilities under relevant legislation 
  • Carry out a pre-shift inspection of the forklift truck
  • Understand the causes of instability of the forklift truck and the load
  • load and unload vehicles
  • Operate the forklift truck safely and correctly in accordance with the manufacturers handbook and instruction 
Training Certification
All candidates will be registered on to the RTITB Nors scheme ( national operators registration scheme valid for 3 years
 
Training Refresher Period
Refresher training is recommended after 3 years and the registration can be renewed with RTITB.
